Do I need an International Driving Permit (IDP)?

This depends on the country where your license was issued, and the location where you are going to rent the motorbike. Usually, if your license is not written in the language of the country where you are planning to rent, then it's a good idea to assume you need an IDP. Citizens of EU are not required to posses an IDP within the countries of the Union, but Non-EU license holders usually are. You should always make sure to research with your license country of issue about the legal requirements of driving abroad.

Where can I find your office location?

Riderly has rental partners all over the world, and it's not uncommon for us to have multiple partners in the same city. Therefore the pickup will very much depend on the vehicle you are interested on.

Once you make a reservation, you will receive a rental voucher including all the contact information for the local office, including; contact person, office address, direction how to get there, phone number, email address, etc.

Which drivers license do I need?

Accepted Answer

You can see the required drivers permit required on the details page for every motorcycle/scooter/quad. It's impossible for us to list all the license categories from every country in the world, but in general terms this is chart might help you.

From unrestricted, to most restricted in descending order:

Any Motorbike → A (EU) or M (US) or Cat 6 (AU/NZ)
Motorbike up to 47hp/600cc →  A2 (EU) or M1/J (US)
Motorbike up to 125cc → A1 (EU) or B (3+ years) or D (3+ years) or Class 1 (3+ years)
Motorbike up to 50cc → Any valid license, including provisional licenses such as AM (EU)
Quads → Most car licenses (B/D/Class 1)

License Rental Requirement

These requirements from country to country, as each have different traffic laws. Additionally, local offices can also at their discretion impose more restrictive requirements. So it's important that before you make a reservation, you check the license category for that specific model as shown on the image above.

Question 4

Can you deliver (pick up or drop off) the motorcycle to the hotel?

Accepted Answer

It is possible to get the motorbike delivered or collected in some cases, however not always, since not all of our local offices are providing that service. You can check on the motorbike page you are looking for below the image of a bike if the "Delivery (Hotel)" and "Return (Hotel)" addons are listed for free, an extra charge, or if it's not available at all (in case the hotel addons are not listed).

Is CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) insurance available?

Accepted Answer

It depends. Some, but not all, of our partners offer CDW for an additional cost. If you are interested in adding CDW make sure to check the "addons" section on the motorcycle page to see if the option to add CDW is available.

Is it possible to rent a scooter if under 18 years old?

Accepted Answer

Yes - In most cases it is possible to rent a 50cc vehicle if you are under 18, but that is very dependent on each country. You should always check the the minimum age and type of license requirements listed in "Rental Policy" at the bottom of the page for the exact vehicle you are looking for.
